A part time outreach and community support position was created in 1999. This addition has allowed Fresh Start Home the opportunity to continue serving women after they successfully have returned to the community. The Community Support program helps the women maintain their self sufficiency.
After a successful departure, the women who complete the residential program are offered an opportunity to participate in the outreach and community services program. This program is available to the women for up to two years and offers ongoing support and assistance. The team member for this program conducts home visits, provides case management and offers information and referral services. This team member advocates for the women in both the residential and the community program regarding housing issues, including attendance at the housing coalition meetings. The emphasis is on helping the women maintain their self-sufficiency and avoid a return to homelessness.
